Laminated Glass

Safety Glass

Laminated glass is a type of safety glass, made up of 2 or more layers of glass and plastic (PVB) interlayers.

Laminated glass is normally used where there is a possibility of human impact or where glass could fall if shattered, as the glass will hold together when breakage occurs due to the plastic (PVB) interlayer. Commonly, laminated glass is used in glass barriers, skylights, well covers, shop windows and many other architectural applications.

Features of Laminated Glass

  • Safety – High safety performance, due to the high adhesion of the PVB interlayer, which cannot be penetrated on impact.
  • Sound Insulation – PVB has good dampening action on sound waves, therefore reducing sound transmission.
  • Anti UV – PVB films are able to block 99% of ultraviolet radiation, preventing furniture and other indoor items from discolouration, whilst still ensuring excellent light transmission.
  • Safeguard – Laminated glass has strong resistance against theft, malicious destruction and violence, often known as bullet-proof or anti-riot glass.

As well as stocking 6.4, 8.8 and 10.8 laminated on the shelf, we can manufacture many types of laminated glass to order, including:
